Gerard Acosta, PTA

Gerard Acosta has lived in many places in the world with his family and father, a retired officer from United States Army. He and his family always returned to Aurora, Colorado to which he calls his first home. Jerry’s interest in sports was early, with his dad teaching him tennis at 6 years old. Jerry continues to play tennis. He competed in gymnastics in junior high school, high school, and college. With athletics as part of his life so has episodes of injuries. In a sense, Jerry has been interested in physical rehabilitation for a long time.

In 1982 Jerry graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colorado with a bachelor of arts with teaching degree. He moved to Ashland, Wisconsin in 1982 with his wife Peggy raised a family of two boys Alex and Christopher. Jerry was an art teacher at the School District of Mellen for 20 years and later switched his interest into the sciences. He received a Physical Therapist Assistant associate’s degree in 2013 at the Lake Superior College, Duluth MN. After his first PTA job experience at Ashland‘s Golden Living Court Manner, Jerry was hired to be part of the Wilson Physical Therapy staff in 2014. Jerry brings to the clinic his experience in Physical Therapy skills and enjoys helping others.

Jerry lives in Ironwood, Michigan with his wife Peggy, Clark, their 5 year old Maltese mix, Bella, a 14 year old senior Tortoiseshell, and a new member of the family, Henry, King Charles Cavalier. He enjoys to be active with playing Pickleball, tennis, skiing, and participating in weekly exercise classes at the NRG studio in Ironwood, Michigan.
